meh. For the most part, I disagree with you. It depends on the workplace.

You let people on Wall street wear whatever they want, they'll generally still dress "nicely." They're not going to start coming in dressed in their PJs.
You work at restaurant, sure, you need a dress code.
You don't need to dress very nicely in a cubicle farm.
