as much as i love to badmouth economists, i think getting and assembling this sort of data is really difficult...

it's not good for them to be off so much, but just try and imagine what it must mean to try and compile data about exactly what is going on in the economy of a country with 300+ million people interacting with a completely globalized economy. i'm sure they just have to put together reams of data coming in from assorted industries at varying rates. so really i think they just have to keep revising data as it trickles in. it can't be easy.
