I really am in shock that so many people actually are pushing that he did this for the benefit of, and in consideration of, the other party, when he quite clearly says in that quote that it's about making sure the other side shares in the blame.

Again, no problem passing health care through with a majority in the House, Senate, and their guy in the WH, but nope, wouldn't be proper to do it with the debt ceiling.
