I'd gamble on taxing everyone before I gambled on cutting services and hoping it doesn't cost us anyway in the long term.

I've spent the last 10 years taxing the crap out of my fellow condo neighbors because the previous 20 years of board members capitulated to cries of "the rent is too damn high!" Every year I stand up at the annual meeting and tell them I'm going to demand more money. And every year they tell me I'm doing a great job. People will pay for the things they want if you explain the math to them. And if they still disagree? Then I'd better be willing to accept being voted out of office for making the right decision rather than make the wrong decision because "I can't take that deal to my [fucking idiot] constituents."

I get the most votes every time I'm reelected. Leading is leading, not pandering to the lowest mental denominator.
