I have a feeling S&P is in for a hell of an attack this week. Perhaps this downgrade is what was needed to get the media to write about how much the

rating agencies suck at what they do.

Whether S&P is right or wrong in their downgrade, it pisses a lot of people off, and there is opportunity here (which we'll ignore probably) to avoid political party attacks over this, and to unify against a 'common enemy'. (Again, not saying that S&P necessarily is an 'enemy', but there is ground for cohesion here)
