S&P made clear in its statement that it wasn't just both parties' inability to find the cuts (which Obama had put $4 trillion on the table that John Boehner and Eric Cantor walked away from).
it was also the Republicans' specific refusal to raise taxes or find other revenues under any circumstances.
until the GOP puts America first and Grover Norquist second, S&P was right
