had to walk almost 150 yards for the nearest running water/outhouse, so it's obvious that I can handle being in remote places.

as far as being mechanically minded, I will just say that you are talking to someone who figured out how to empty the dirt tray from his roomba WITHOUT needing to read the owner's manual first.
