another thing to keep in mind is if you have (or are getting) a platform bed, you'll likely want a softer mattress than you'd typically go for

yes, they have varying firmness. We got the firm one, and it is awesome.

that's how we tested mattresses out. one of us would lay down and the other would flop on the other side. "i didn't even feel it!"
