When you add the high percentages of "birthers" that are tea partiers into the mix of the arguments that Jack and TWuG are making, it is much harder

to buy the argument that it is purely political and not infected with racism. Certainly not for everyone (I'm not trying to paint everyone with the same brush). But it is difficult to see the birther movement as anything other than racist and when there are meaningful percentages of the party that believed that stuff it is difficult to dismiss racism as an element of the virulent opposition to Obama. Again, I am not saying that it is an issue for everyone, but it is an element that fuels the issue on a macro level.
