I think this is true - when you go to the supermarket, you see packages of meat that have little resemblance to the animal they came from

For someone who's only seen meat in that context, it's very confronting to have that blissful ignorance removed

OTOH, if you go to markets in, say, France, you'll see all sorts of gory, non-santised stuff - animal feet, heads split in half, whole tongues, etc. People have no doubt where it comes from, and eat it anyway
