I'm not saying your wrong, but the one thing that jumped at me as I read this was that it sounded like a father taking about his daughter.

Not a husband talking about his wife/ex.
I think it's good that you want to help her, but remember she is an adult and needs to be an adult. Beware of enabling her to not be independent like you want.
