heh, I may have misjudged things (strong Democratic content inside, don't read if that sort of thing upsets you)

I'm on the planning committee for a joint Inauguration Day/MLK Jr party on the 20th here in my little town. The other folks on the committee had talked about making some Obama memorabilia available for party attendees to buy, but to try to get a vendor to show up for what might be very low sales. So we are going to get a few buttons but not much else.

Well, this month's issue of The Amazing Spider-Man will have Obama on the cover and an inauguration day plotline. I called up Remlik and spoke with him about selling some for his store at the party. He was worried about how large the gathering would be and would I sell more than he could get from the distributor. I told him not to worry, its a small town, and vastly Republican. I doubted that I could sell more than twenty copies.

So he said "Great, I'll get twenty copies for you!" and I immediately started to worry. I hadn't got permission for the rest of the committee to bring them in yet. They all seem like pretty serious people and I was worried that I thought they might think having a comic book for sale at this gathering would be stupid.

So I emailed the committee not knowing what to think. I pitched it as something that folks might like to buy for their kids and grandkids but I'm also worried that even if they said fine, no one would buy the comic book and I'd be stuck with twenty copies of stupid ass Spider-Man.

I just got my first email response back from a committee member, a female banker here in town. She said "Mark, put me down for seven copies of the comic book."

Maybe this might work after all...
