Is that a random assignment or do they volunteer for that unit/duty ? -- nm

Well, as far as I know, they must be selected to be in the 3rd infantry (which is ceremonial). They must be a certain height, physique, and look. -- nm

I believe that they volunteer, or else "request" for Tomb of the Unknown .. but they go thru a very strict program to prepare for it ,,,
