so I did a really stupid thing this month that is going to totally screw me over financially for about eight weeks. want to hear?

we have a minimum credit load per semester at the university of 12. my program does not have this restriction, but we need to opt out of it if we take less than 12 credits per semester. most of my program knew this already because most people take two classes per mod in second year. I overloaded to 11 classes total last semster, which meant I didn't hit minimum.
my grad assistanship and my fellowship money are contingent on my completed registration. I had registered for classes (11 credits) for next semester, so I thought I was fine.
today, I got an email from the fellowship office asking me to activate for the semester so I could be activated for my assistantship. I rang and they told me about the 12 credit rule.
so now I have to do a late opt-out, which means I have to pay my tuition (which is covered by my assistantship) and then get it back in six weeks *and* means that I won't get paid until my late opt-out is approved by the bursar, financial aid, my program, and the dean's office.
I'm hosed.
oh well.
