liz is still fairly skittish, but she's improved greatly. i learned to just pretend like nothing's happening and not comfort her when she's freaked

because i guess when you comfort them, it reinforces that something's off, and also positively rewards them for being scared. so if you just pretend like everything's fine, they chill a little more each time.
