Several years ago I saw a news story about a couple without fed flood insurance. They were watching the water rise and putting out sandbags. They also

had a notary standing by. It seems that you can sign up for it just before your property floods, get the app notarized and pay the premium. For several years in a row they dodged a bullit and didn't have to sign up. This time, they did. It really pissed me off that when their house flooded, they'd only had their insurance like 20 minutes. I think that's a loophole that needs to be closed.
