Interestingly, everything I'm reading suggests that for multi-room tv switching, hdmi is not really reliable and you really should use component

cables. I've been on some A/V forums and they're filled with people struggling with hdmi switching and professionals telling them they're better off with component cables. Obviously different in a single room set up, but I think the switching and the long lengths of hdmi needed for multi-room cause problems.
