FWIW, I think having a somewhat elevated bed is supposed to be better for the back

I don't understand how it makes a difference. You're talking about the distance from the floor? Or from the ground? Is 2nd floor better than 1st? -- nm

it's like getting out of a bean bag chair vs a dining room chair, or a really low car vs an SUV. if you are higher, it's easier to stand up from

From the floor. E.g. my mattress is a little below my knee height (I may be more sensitive to this because I'm tall). -- nm
