yah, you can't start over fresh. what you can do, though, is not keep carrying on the same way.

don't bring up past stuff, ignore people/topics who bring out the worst in you, *relax* for a change, and just mosey along.
if you need advice about this, I would recommend you talk with redmond (who I know has offered this himself), as he went through his own stuff here and came out really, really well.
