Alice Cooper to Play Whisky a Go Go for First Time in 42 Years

Alice Cooper will celebrate the release of his Welcome 2 My Nightmare album with a special club gig on September 15 at Los Angeles' Whisky a Go Go. The sold-out event will mark the first time the shock rocker will play at the famed Sunset Strip venue since 1969, when his band was on a bill with another up-and-coming act named Led Zeppelin.

"The Whisky gig we did with Led Zeppelin is something we all talk about to this day," said Cooper in a statement. "It's going to be amazing to go back as a straight-ahead L.A. bar band...We might even take requestsAnd it's L.A., so you never know who else might show up."

Australian guitarist Orianthi will make her concert debut as part of Cooper's touring band at the show. Cooper's "No More Mr. Nice Guy" trek then will kick off a lengthy new overseas leg on September 22 in Auckland, New Zealand.

Welcome 2 My Nightmare, the sequel to Cooper's 1975 concept album Welcome to My Nightmare, will be released next Tuesday -- two days before the Whisky performance.
