My friend who had the tumor removed from his brain has stage 3 cancer. Because it hasn't spread he doesn't have to do chemo, but local radiation treatments on his head. He's known for a while but didn't want to tell us because he didn't want to ruin our labor day weekend.
I did some googling and know that stage 3 is fairly advanced, but still localized. The surgery went well but if they left a couple cancerous cells in they could start spreading. What's the life expectancy for something like this? I found data for other cancers but not brain, and the figures were all over the place. I don't want to ask him because I figured he'd bring it up if he wanted to talk about it.

it totally depends on the type of cancer it was

yeah, that sucks. survival rates really depend on the specifics of the cancer. there are different kinds of tumor, and different kinds of brain cancer

So sorry, and what Loosi and T-Fox said. I think location really matters. A couple of weeks ago a tumor was found on my dad'd -- nm

very sorry to hear this. I think the only way to get accurate info is to ask him.

a) that's awful, I'm sorry. b) IANAD, but I suspect the googling is all over the place because advanced brain cancer is all over the place.
