$895 a month is low for this area, but you're right that it's not worth it based on today's evidence ...

Today we got on a waitlist for a place that's more expensive, *but* it's super-close to where my wife works and has way more compatible hours. Given the insanity of her commute to and from work (ok, it's not as insane as stephen's - it's just clogged streets), it's very stressful for her to get him dropped off and her to work in the allotted time, and sometimes difficult to get from work to daycare in the allotted time to pick him up.

So the price difference could be easily counteracted with the savings in sanity. And gas.
