when we first moved to Wisconsin my mom found it in the store and had a dinner party - used it with cheese and heated it up - rolling the cheese inside and served them as appetizers - having lived before in the Southwest - she thought nothing of it - and they tasted delicious. The guests (locals) were horrified ... telling her that's NOT how you make lefse ... apparently it's toasted or heated with cinnamon sugar and butter ONLY. heh ... we never stopped eating it with cheese - and when I get some from my sister every now and then - I'll make sauteed morels with goat cheese and roasted garlic and spread it on top of a nice warmed up lefse as my own bastardization of the dish.
