maybe not. but i think the nyt plan has been a relative success and this looks to me like...

they're happy enough with how that has gone to go ahead and try another angle with one of their properties & see how it flies.

this is all obviously still a work in progress; but i think publishers are finding that at least some segment of consumers will pay for online content if the model is right.

(of course, i don't think print editions are going away anytime soon, either.)
