here are my issues with the Save as a stat.....

1. You are already winning the game, and for at least 21 outs (or in some cases 18 outs) someone else was responsible for keeping that lead.

2. You only need to get one batter out to get a save. Consider that a hall of fame type player will make an out 65% of the time, the odds are in your favor that you will get that out, regardless of how good you are.

3. A reliever comes in to a game in the 6th inning of a 1-0 lead, with the bases loaded and no outs. He gets out of that inning without giving up a run. You end up winning 1-0 and the guy who gets the final out gets the save.
