I think the system fonts in Windows 7 are bigger, or something.

The windows on my 19" LCD look "fatter" and occupy more space in Windows 7 than they do in XP. Haven't quite my finger on the reason, yet, but I'm thinking it's the fonts for stuff like the title bar, status bar, etc.

Not unlikely. There's a setting in the Display app in some versions of windows that lets you modify that. -- nm - Beryllium Jan 12, 08:54
