ok, so I thought that the episode was a little darker and grittier than the usual fair we've gotten previously. for that reason, I loved it.
and the new police chief? yeah, I hate her already.
I think that they could have developed the idea of Kate's resistance to "moving on" and not being so obsessive about solving her mother's murder ... but it's understandable ... either develop it more and push it into a follow up episode / 2-parter, or limit it for sake of episodic constraints.
overall, i'm looking forward to this season.
