i was told, oh, 2 months ago, that my grandmother who lived in the same town as me and who i saw, at least weekly till i left home was an alcoholic.

i had no idea.
apparently she and all her siblings were (not shockingly when you know the back story.).
i have NO memory of my grandmother drunk. my mother said that by the time i'd remember she was way more in control but when my mom was growing up her mom got drunk, daily.
i had. NO. IDEA.
