I will say that while my stubborness was through the roof, my judgment was quite impaired during the fire.

And that's why I almost blacked out before the firemen pushed me out.
I don't think human nature would be to try to go up instead of down in that scenario. In hindsight, it makes more sense but at the time, I'm certain everyone wanted to get out of the building.
