I think it varied greatly depending on the location. The floors right above were in a fireball right away.

Other floors, like WOW, weren't bad right away. My brother's friend Chris was at that conference, and he emailed his mom to say he was ok. I believe he also wrote that they were headed to the roof. Obviously it didn't stay ok.
