Why hasn't he joined the GOP? He's not a Republican. That's the #1 reason and is as far as it needs to go.
Any argument from you that disregards the 90% rate of Democratic support is as asininely stupid as the McCain's not a conservative cuz he doesn't suckle the Right 100% of the time; only 90%.
The Democrats in 2006 didn't win becuase they stayed liberal; they won cuz they realized Democratic party members can be pro-NRA, pro-life and pro-Democrat. It's shocking how you win when you don't make others fall in lockstep with you.
