is pretty much happening without any public conversation of the potential consequences, which i think has the potential to be exceedingly problematic going forward.
another thing that bugs me (not in this particular case) is drone strikes that get reported as "fifteen militants killed" or whatever, which gets accepted unquestioningly by everyone but there's really nothing to go on but a government's word for it. that's pretty useful for an imperial presidency, i think.
