There's a great article in the new Wired magazine about a website that changed its forum style, so the users created their own

which now outnumbers the traffic on the old site 3:1. The old one is owned by CNet (it has something to do with babies and moms or something), and the 'new' one was built by users in their spare time.
It just makes me think we could make our own HSX with all the programming knowledge and such that we have here.
