they prefer terms like Southern Tier, Northern Tier, and probably some others. I lived in the Southern Tier for five years. NO ONE called it "upstate".

I object to Westchester Co. being called "upstate NY". People in Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo, and everyone else would object, too. -- nm
