i've never heard of that. i find that dedicated toys help deter destructive behaviors. on the rare occasion they grab something they shouldn't

just trade out the bad item for the good. sounds like your dogs have it made either way, just thought i'd point that out.
actually ... come to think of it ... i did have a huge problem with lizzie when i first got her. she ruined shoes and tried to root out food, etc. (see: garbage, kitchen counters). but that was when i was away and she was bored. i started hiding treats all over the house before i'd leave and it totally satisfied her instincts to search and destroy. thankfully she grew out of that. ;)
but daisy has done *great* with dedicated toys.
