Helluva lot of fun. I had a sometimes frustrating candidate as a first-timer to elected politics, but enjoyed working with her most of the time.

We were a "charmed" campaign vis a vie Central Campaign, so I received resources that wouldn't always be given a normal campaign, and the fact that I was coming in to clean up a mess left by another campaign manager gave me pretty good leeway in my chats with Central.
On the ground, I made mistakes early, but part of that was being thrown into an existing campaign vs being there from Day One and planning and preparing for months in advance. That resulted in some lost activity in Week One and Two - I was literally dealing with whatever problem was immediately before me and unable to plan out even a day or two. Also means I left some budget room on the table, and that was inexcusable.
I would have loved to have gotten in with my candidate back in June or July. I think the extra couple of months would have made a bit of a difference, though in the end, the city trends probably means that we would have fallen short once again.
That said, it gave me tremendous insight on what to prepare for with my eventual run. The results on last Tuesday may very well have sped up my timeline, as the veteren MLA who was re-elected in my constituency/district won handily, but is of the age that another eight-year build up is probably not for her. I can see her retiring in a year or two. I have to prepare for a nomination race that will be tough, tough, tough.
