Also, how do you triage the emails? Do you look for and deal with the important ones first? Do you get rid of the chaff first?
If I have something on fire, something I know I should deal with ASAP I start looking at the important ones first. If not, I get rid of the garbage. Today, I got rid of the garbage.
It's sort of amazing how many emails get generated for one person in one day. And I'm not even important.

I go through it all at once and make simple "delete" or "don't delete" decisions. Then I go through it all again and do "now" or "later" decisions. -- nm

clean out everything that is not relevant (for me that's about 40% of all incoming, not counting what gets moved automatically by rules as they come)
