Really? Because I'd have to say that the fringe is driving this train.

The reason there's so much fluidity in the race is that the GOP base is dissatisfied with their choices. Romney is a default choice because it's his time, and GOP voters like to go with guys who wait their turn (see also: Bob Dole, John McCain), but they're not crazy about him which is why there's this ongoing love affair with flavors of the month (Perry, Christie, Cain, etc.)

As long as there's not a "true" conservative in this race, the fringe will continue to be dissatisfied.
