Just look at Los Angeles. Whether a city can weather the loss of a huge employer depends a lot on how diversified the local economy is.

Watching large companies move away because we don't want to bend over for them in a variety of ways is pretty much a sport here. We've paid for it. LA's unemployment rate is 12 per cent, compared to the national 9.1. But guess what: if your local economy isn't so crucially dependent on that one company or industry...
