And I agree it is unfair to assume that every member of the Republican Party shares every single tenet put forth. But what are we supposed to base our views of the Republican Party on, if not the ideas expressed by their leadership?

I think it fairly clear in discussions here that we are not criticizing individuals, but the ideas put forth by the party apparatus.
