As a manager one of the things I always get a laugh out of are people who rate themselves a "5" (we do a 1-5 rating) on their self-evaluations...

...for just basically doing their job.
Doing the job you're being paid to do? That's a 3, or a C.
Going a bit above and beyond that, that's a 4, or a B.
