LYC: Great momenting in child/parent relations from the weekend

Abby had to have an early (meaning, late-morning) nap on Saturday b/c her soccer game was at 1. Heather was gone on her training run, and my brother and I were outside working on building the shed.

I was just going to go in at 10:30 and put her to nap, but we were going to be up on the roof nailing the shingles. So, when I was in at 10, on the spur of the moment, I set a timer and told her that when the timer went off, she should turn it off and go tuck herself in for her nap.

could not believe that work. neither could heather when i told her about it later.

that's a pretty big step for a 5 year old, i think.
she's such a good little citizen.
