It would have to start in the minor leagues and also with the high school and college kids.

They're not going to get the union to ban it for the current players anytime soon. Maybe in 10 years but I don't see the union agreeing to it in the near future.
Most of these players have been chewing since they were in H.S. Not only is a habit now but I'd bet a few would tell you it's superstition as well and they wouldn't be able to play without it.
I'm not trying to defend its use, I don't like it myself, but I just don't see the union banning it.
