It seems like not so long ago, it wasn't that disrespectful to think homosexuality was a choice

Now people seem really bothered by it.
Personally (though I am not gay so my opinion doesn't matter much) I think the problem is when people think that since it's a choice, we should make an effort to change them. That's homophobic.
If someone thinks it's a choice but respect that choice (I'm not sure I believe Cain when he says it, but that's a different debate), I'm okay with that
