In response to "Warner's putting Harry Potter in the Vault a tthe end of this year" by Remlik

This is just a ploy to influence Christmas shopping, right?

That is the only way I can make sense of the decision. Sure, the older movies have been around for a while (though I think some of the Blu-Ray releases are recent). But the first Deathly Hallows movie was relesed earlier this year, and by the time they put them in the vault the second one will have been out for a month and a half. A month and a half when a lot of people will be spending money on Christmas gifts.

Of course, the key phrase is "stops shipping." A lot of retailers already have a lot of the earlier copies on the shelves and will likely order a lot of the last one. So it's unlikely they disappear from shelves for a while. And then Warners will just release them from the vault. Or there will be little need because people will have gone download/streaming by that time.
