COSTUME CONUNDRUM
Carolyn, what is the etiquette around wearing costumes to Halloween parties? A new coworker has invited me and my boyfriend to a Halloween party tonight. She's mentioned a couple times to come in costume, but my boyfriend and I hate dressing up --- and we'll be coming from a non-costume dinner party beforehand. Is it rude to show up without a costume? If we're not going to wear a costume, would it have been more polite to decline the invitation?
