Possibly, since she gave you so many chances to ask her directly. Haven't you just said something to her? "We're coming from another, non-costume party, so we'll be in street clothes." I ask only because it seems a lot easier than exploring the etiquette.
As for that, I tend to think it's rude to be so insistent on a theme for what I assume is a casual party (i.e., this is not license to blow off formalwear for formal parties), but if you get a hard time for showing up sans costume, just tell people you've come dressed as you, or a stiff/killjoy/party pooper/a dork who didn't get the message/whatever else fits the description.
