as a GM or owner, I have a duty to make my team successful for as long as possible. Luck gives me that chance for another decade -15 years.

Peyton, as meaningful as he's been to the organization isn't going to win a SB with that current team so I'm not trying to patch some weaknesses and hope I can outlast the Pats & Steelers.
