my best was three guys and each individual costume was well done but together..

one guy was a bottle of hand lotion, complete with an excellent 'pump' hat (really well done.)
second guy was a playboy magazine.
third guy was a box of kleenex. complete with big tissues coming out of it.
together: hilarious (and they were funny "i have no idea why people think our costumes are related, they clearly aren't")
and while there were a lot of great elaborate costumes that were amazing, these were my favourites (the theme was 'retro halloween' - interpreted however you wanted)...
1 - saw a girl dressed as Mrs. Roper and it was friggin perfect - it was the wig, perfect short red perm, with a hideous long patterned 70s dress, bobbley earrings, ropes of necklaces.
2- Colonel Sander, he *nailed* it. complete with a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken with a big plastic chicken leg hanging out of it
3 - not retro, but very well done - Voodoo Doll. This girl made herself a really simple dress out of burlap. and she had *giant* pins sticking out of her (including a red sewn on heart on her chest with 3 pins right in there.)
