It's aggressively bad in every way.

Every scene is constantly over the top. The score music never stops. Every single scene is full of constant mellodramatic/operatic tones that never stop. Johyn Hurt just isn't scary because all his scenes are over the top. Also, they talk too much in this movie. Everyone. The whole part where Natalie Portman is in V's "prison" and she kept going back to reading that note like it was her sleeptime novel? And the music swells, and the saturated, sappy flashback story happens? How are you not supposed to bust out laughing every time she does that?
